"Dad, I know you have suffered a lot for many
years, and yet I was unable to help you. I only
made the situation worse. I've been stubborn
and angry because I didn't understand your
difficulties. It was not my intention to make you
suffer. Please tell me about yourself, about
your suffering and difficulties." When you
speak like this, the heart of the other person
will open, communication will be restored,
and there will be healing for both of you.
The seed of compassion and the capacity to
listen deeply are in your heart; you just need
mindfulness to touch them. Reconciliation is
possible in any relationship, even between
conflicting parties or nations. 61
