This experience taught me I shouldn’t immerse myself so completely in work that I get drowned in it. I should have time to live, to
get in touch with the refreshing and healing
elements that are in me and around me.
A simple plate of fresh herbs was enough
to restore my balance. Those of us who
are activists always want to succeed in our
attempt to help the world, but if we don't
maintain a balance between our work and
our spiritual nourishment-our practice
of mindfulness-we can't go very far. The
practice of walking meditation, mindful
breathing, getting in touch with the
refreshing and healing elements
in and around us is crucial
for our survival, and
will help us be able to
continue our work for
a long time. 101
